The Harris-Walz Ticket: Day 2

HARRY ENTEN

Harry Enten is a Senior Data Reporter at CNN and Host of the network's Margins of Error podcast. Formerly a Senior Writer and Analyst at FiveThirtyEight, the polling platform founded by fellow Leigh Bureau speaker Nate Silver, Enten is known for his high-energy style and gift for telling stories through numbers. Watch him map out possible paths to a Harris electoral college victory in this recent CNN clip.

PETER COY

Veteran business journalist and New York Times opinion writer Peter Coy writes in his latest newsletter, 'Kamala Harris Needs a 3p.m. Agenda,' that should Harris defeat Trump, she'll need an agenda for 'the issues that may not disturb voters in the middle of the night, but do have to be dealt with in the clear light of day.' Namely, a long-term plan for the federal budget and pro-growth spending.

EDWARD LUCE

In his recent Financial Times column, 'Kamala Harris's happy blue-collar warrior,' US National Editor Edward Luce discusses Tim Walz's appeal, and how his strengths and weaknesses measure up against those of his Republican counterpart.

RANA FOROOHAR

In her recent Financial Times column, 'Kamala Harris must reaffirm her commitment to Bidenomics,' Rana Foroohar asserts that 'if the Democrats want to win in November, they can’t afford to let the Republicans paint Harris — as they did Hillary Clinton in 2016 — as belonging to a coastal elite beholden to big money interests rather than working people in states such as Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan, which is where the election is likely to be won or lost.'

PAMELA PAUL

In her column this morning, 'Harris Might Become the First Female President, but Keep the Focus Where It Belongs,' bestselling author and New York Times columnist Pamela Paul expresses scepticism in the role identity plays for Harris's approval among voters. 'Rather than focusing on what Harris means to women, South Asian Americans, or Black people,' she writes, 'we should focus on what she might mean to all Americans.'

NATE SILVER

Nate Silver's latest model on the Silver Bulletin 2024 presidential election forecast shows that adding Tim Walz to the ticket increases Harris' chance of winning Minnesota from 86% to 90%. His national poll shows Harris has gained a 2% advantage since last week, edging out Trump at 45.8% to his 43.7%.
